Hockey
I took David to his first Hockey game last night! The Seattle Thunderbirds played against the Spokane Chiefs in front of a roucous crowd of at least 2000!
We had a lot of fun. David was really into the game and by the second period was clapping and yelling Go Thunderbirds! I bought him a spongy puck (one he can use in the house). David ate almost a whole bucket of popcorn. Also, it was the farthest physically that David had ever been from his Mami. It was a little rough getting out of the house, but David's spirits and comportment improved the closer we got to Seattle.
I don't know where his interest in hockey comes from--we don't watch it on TV (couldn't anyway this year...) and David has never been to a skating rink. Regardless, he seems to really like the sport. While at the game, I observed that it is actually a very good spectator sport for children, lots more action then baseball or football. Even more than basketball. While play is stopped for icing calls, penalties, etc., the down times are few and brief. There was no fighting last night, that could be a detractor for kids...
BTW, the Chiefs won 3-2.
